Jessica Weatherford said her son drank very little of his drink. Jamie Goins said her son quickly finished his drink. Goins said he "started acting a little strange, falling asleep, stumbling over things...then the started vomiting."
The mothers didn't realize the drinks had alcohol in them until they looked at the receipt. They were charged $6 for supposedly non-alcoholic drinks.
"Right then, I told [the waitress] that we had a problem because you served two 4 year-olds, and one of them is extremely intoxicated," Weatherford said.
The women contacted police and Goins' son was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Police say a waitress accidentally pressed the wrong button for the drinks which caused the boys to be served alcoholic drinks. No charges were filed because police believed it was not intentional.
Goins and Weatherford say employees from the restaurant contacted them to inquire about the boys. Both mothers say the want to see a change in place to keep this from happening again.
"Something needs to be done so that it doesn't happen to another child, where they die", Goins said.
There is one thing that will keep this from happening again...don't order virgin drinks for small children. Is a virgin daiquiri an appropriate treat for 4 year-olds? Does it teach them to drink alcohol? What do you think?
Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!
Peace
