Paul and Belinda got into their SUV and their 7 year-old granddaughter got into her plastic Hot Wheels car and off they went...towing the Hot Wheels car behind the SUV with their granddaughter inside. The child was wearing a bathing suit and no protective gear, whatsoever.
The Hot Wheels car was attached to the SUV with two dog leashes. They were having a merry old time until they were spotted and stopped by a sheriff's deputy. The Hot Wheels car was traveling between 5-10 miles per hour.

When the deputy asked for his drivers license, Paul's speech was slurred and the spoke slowly when he said it was "revoked for 10 years for DUI".
Belinda was riding in the back of the SUV with the hatch open, cheering on her granddaughter.
Belinda, also drunk, told the deputy "it was dangerous to drag a child behind the vehicle", but "they were just having fun and had been doing this all day."

The fun is over for the Berlonis...they were taken to jail. They were charged with one count of child endangerment. Paul is also charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license.
Police say Paul refused a field sobriety test, and also refused a blood alcohol test once they reached the police station.
These two should never be allowed near another child or another vehicle until they get treatment for alcohol abuse. Paul said he has been arrested five times for DUI; however, police could only find three convictions, including this one.
The police report indicates they were driving on a service road...thank goodness for small favors. What they did was totally stupid and irresponsible.
The child's father, Justin Oetting, agrees. The officer contacted him and when he arrived, he was verbally upset. I completely agree with his statement to his mom, "Are you fucking stupid you should know better."

Those two grandparents should be kept so far away from any kids. no kids should be allowed to go near them. what would have happened if the kid had had an accident or even the car itself? the two were drunk so none could save the other. the worst thing is they used dog leashes to hook the Hot Wheels car to the SUV! if i was the child's parent, I would not have forgiven them even if they had used hitches to hook up both cars. Sheer irresponsibility!
