Going 120 MPH in Cop Car

Have you ever been late for work and sped to get there on time? But, you probably never drove 120 mph to get there.

State Police Officer DJ Watts is driving on the turnpike when a marked, Miami police squad car speeds past her, weaving in and out of traffic at a very high-speed. The car is traveling so fast, the State Patrol Officer can't overtake it. The driver of the Miami police car ignores the lights and the siren. At times, he accelerates and continues changing lanes.

At one point, the Miami police car slows to 78 mph, but speeds up again. After a seven minute, 12 mile chase in the early dawn, the Miami police car pulls over. Driving the police car is a Miami police officer.

Officer Fausto Lopez says he was on the way to a part-time job. If he had stopped when the siren and lights were first used, the outcome may have been different (I hope not). Instead, he chooses to ignore the siren and lights as if they would go away. He apparently felt he was above the law as some Law Enforcement Officers do, but unfortunately for him, he sped past Officer Watts.

Officer Watts pulled her gun, handcuffed and arrested the Miami police officer. Officer Fausto Lopez is charged with second-degree reckless driving. Subsequently, he was released from custody. If you live in Miami, watch out for Officer Lopez; he is back at work because this is "a traffic offense".

Good job, Officer Watts!

Peace
