Man Poses as Dead Mother for Six Years

Irene Prusik received over $100,000 in government benefits since her death in 2003. A woman in a red dress is seen on video cashing checks at least two times after her death.

Her son, Thomas Prusik-Parkin, a Norman Bates wanna-be, said he never pretended to be his mother and never wore her clothing. He said the person in the red dress and wig is not him and he has no idea who the person is in the video.

Police did not believe him and arrested Parkin for impersonating his mother, dressed in a red dress and a silver wig.

The jury did not believe him either. On Friday, Parkin was convicted of criminal possession of a forged document, mortgage fraud and grand larceny.

Bates....uh...Parkin, 49, dressed as his mother, renewed her drivers license. The man in black with Parkin is his partner in crime, Mhilton Rimolo,47, who posed as Parkin's nephew when he dressed as his mother.

They collected $52,000 from Social Security and $65,000 in rent supplements from social services. Parkin was also involved in deed and mortgage fraud schemes. His mother owned a brownstone worth $2.2 million and after her death, Parkin also managed property transfers involving the house.

They were caught in 2009 when the new owner of house contacted police. Parkin and the new owner got into an argument about the real estate. The brownstone was sold at a foreclosure auction when Parkin could not maintain ownership.

The new owner contacted police and an investigation was opened. Parkin agreed to let police meet with his mother.

“When prosecutors and detective investigators arrived, they found Prusik-Parkin dressed as his 77-year-old mother, wearing a red cardigan, lipstick, manicured nails and breathing through an oxygen tank,” the DA’s office said.

Rimolo pleaded guilty, in 2009, to criminal possession of a forged instrument and grand larceny; he served less than a year in prison.

Thomas Prusik-Parkin said he is a fan of the movie, "Psycho".  So perhaps he agrees with Nathan Bates that "We all go a little mad sometimes".

Peace
