He told her to get out of the van and began turning the wheel towards the the side of the road. She opened the door and jumped out just as the van went over a cliff.
The vehicle, with Kheop still inside, continued about 200 feet down the cliff. By the time rescuers reached the van, Kehop had already disappeared. The van was totally destroyed, but Michael Kheop survived and somehow eluded police. Police continued to search for him.
About five hours later, Ms. Kheop said she heard a knock at the window; it was her husband. She told him to turn himself in and not to bring the drama home to the children.
She called police and Michael Kheop was arrested and charged with attempted murder of his wife and car theft. His bail is $100,000.
Maru Kheop is a great mom and a supportive wife. Apparently she did not know the van was stolen. She tried to get her husband to surrender. When she learned about the car theft from police, she refused to let him in when he returned home and called police.
Mrs. Kehop is an admirable person...she did the right thing for all concerned in this situation.
Peace
