Police seized a large amount of marijuana from Jerry Van Dorsey of Vinita, Oklahoma. When they questioned him about where he got it, he said he got it from his mother.
His mother, Darlene Mayes is 73 years-old...look at that face...say it ain't so!
Dorsey told police he "introduced his mother to the world of drug-dealing, but that she tried to cut him out of business because of his meth use".
He said his "mom cheated him out of a horse trailer and that he took the marijuana from her because it was the only way he knew to make up for the loss of the trailer".
Dorsey said he introduced his mother to the people from whom she gets the marijuana. He says he and his mom were in the drug business together.
Unfortunately, it is true..Mayes was arrested on April 10 and charged Tuesday with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with an intent to distribute and drug possession without tax stamp in Craig County District Court.
A drug task force served a warrant on Mayes on April 9. They searched the house and found and seized $276,538 in cash, six one-gallon plastic bags of marijuana, a marijuana pipe and a 9mm pistol.
Police say the cash was all over the house and not really hidden. Cash was under a bed in a bag and in a bag in the closet.
Mayes, a former employee of the Department of Human Services in Craig County, has lived all of her 73 years without a criminal history...until now. Mayes posted a $20,000 bond and she was released from jail on April 11.
This is just another example of elderly drug dealers busted in the past few years. Granny was probably just trying to supplement her social security benefits. Nothing is gained by putting this woman in jail.
Dorsey is charged with dealing drugs and a few lesser charges. Now that it is known he snitched on his mother, being charged is the least of Dorsey's worries. Dealers who sold to his mother will be looking for him and if he goes to jail, he had better watch his back...snitches are hated in prison.
I can see it now...Movie of the Week: "Gunga Granny" starring Cloris Leachman as Granny.
Peace
