It's tax time again so it's no surprise that people are seeking out tax preparers like Liberty Tax Services, a well-known tax business whose mascot is the Statue of Liberty. This time of year, it's common to see someone dressed as the Statue of Liberty waving signs in front of the businesses.
Sonia Watson chose a Toledo, Ohio Liberty Tax Services to prepare her return. Watson got her tax return prepared and she and her son left the office, but they returned to the office a couple of days later.
They walked into the office about 7 PM with "cloths" covering their faces, but quickly dropped them when they realized there were customers inside. They waited until the customers left the office. Then they re-covered their faces and tried to rob the business using…a curling iron.
Employees figured out the "gun" was a curling iron and one employee refused to give them money. Watson smacked her with the curling iron...the employee threw a soda bottle at Watson while another co-worker hit her son with a chair. Watson and her son managed to get $288 from the cash drawer before fleeing the store. They evaded the employee, dressed as the Statue of Liberty, outside the store and got away.
Sonia and her son are on he run, but police are on their trail. It shouldn't be too hard to find them...an employee recognized Watson...she prepared her taxes a few days earlier.
After taking the cover from their faces, they actually waited for customers to leave and then covered their faces again to rob the place like they had been invisible all along...LOL
How crazy is it to rob the office where you had your taxes prepared! Guess Watson didn't remember the tax office had her information...social security number, name, address, etc. Plus, employees recognized her.
Maybe Watson wasn't happy about the amount of her refund, but I'm sure she will be even less happy once she is arrested.
It shouldn't take long to apprehend them. I'm surprised this pair of dumb criminals were able to make it out of the parking lot.
