Should the Death Penalty be Abolished?
There is a story in the news today, Troy Davis' execution, which brings up an issue I am passionate about…the death penalty.
I don’t know whether Troy is guilty or not guilty, but what I glean from all the information on the internet about the case, there is some doubt and there lies the issue.
If there is any chance that an innocent person may be executed, the death penalty is not the correct sentence. You may say it’s just one or two people who are innocent, but what if the one or two people were members of your family.
The Innocence Project has spared the lives of many people wrongly convicted and sentenced to death row. Below, is a link which shows the number of people on death row who were spared (one died before being exonerated) because of this project.

I am not interested whether or not you think Davis is guilty. I am asking for your comments on the death penalty.
What is your opinion? Should the death penalty be abolished? Why or why not?
Let the debate begin!
Peace
