Man Poses as Woman for Thirteen Years

Police in California found a woman sleeping in public and became suspicious when the name on her hospital arm band was not the same name she gave police.  Authorities called San Clemente Hospital and learned the "woman" was really a man.

Perla Seranno, 51, posed as a woman for thirteen years, using a woman's stolen ID.  Police say he sought medical care using the victim's stolen name and information.  Seranno's thirteen years worth of theft totals $100,000.

Seranno found identification belonging to the victim, identified as Perla K. He was able to use her information to get a healthcare card because he and the victim have the same first name.



The victim has been in court several times trying untangle the mess Seranno caused; he had several arrest warrants in the thirteen years he used her identity. She will probably never get all the problems he's caused resolved.

Seranno makes a convincing woman and the name "Perla" does sound very feminine. He probably got tired of being joked about his name and decided to live as a woman. Too bad he chose identity theft as an option.
