Merlande Wilson Lied About Winning the Lottery

Oops, I made a mistake with today's blog.  I wrote the blog earlier and simply forgot to check for updates before I published the story about Merlande Wilson who claimed she won the Maryland lottery.

The winners have come forward and neither of them is Merlande Wilson.  Read the story from www.complex.com:

It looks like the circus is finally coming to a close, as the actual Maryland Mega Millions winner has spoken up to claim a third of the $656 million prize. The ticket-holder has wisely decided to keep his/her identity a secret, to maintain their privacy and avoid overshadowing the situation itself. So, this pretty much excludes Merlande Wilson.
There will be a press conference today, and it sounds like it will be pretty cut and dry:
They scheduled a news conference for Tuesday morning, at which "no winners will be present," said Carole Everett, a spokeswoman for the Maryland Lottery. When asked whether there was more than one winner, she responded: "Perhaps." No other details were immediately available.
Though this move isn't as entertaining as the Merlande Wilson Saga, it's definitely the smart thing to do.
Why the lies...strange.
Peace

Does She Really Have the Winning Lottery Ticket?

A Maryland woman, Merlande Wilson, claims she is one of three winners of the $656 million Mega Millions lottery. She asked for privacy...probably because her McDonald's co-workers claim they share in the winnings.

Her co-workers said the tickets were paid for with the group's money and Wilson made the purchase. After the drawing, she called them, very excited, to say she won the lottery.

Wilson said the money is hers; she purchased another ticket and that is the ticket that won the lottery. She also said the co-workers have copies of the tickets she purchased for them as a group.

If the co-workers have copies of the group tickets, they should know for certain if they won the lottery. If there are no copies and her story is a fabrication, that should be easy to prove, but there is no report of anyone asking to see the copies her co-workers supposedly have. She said she didn't just make up this story for publicity; she has retained an attorney.

Finally, she says she hasn't officially claimed her winnings because she misplaced the winning ticket...What?!?  However, neither of the three winners has claimed their winnings...so maybe she does have a ticket...she seems pretty happy for someone who lost a lottery ticket worth over $3 million.

Well, if she didn't fabricate her story, she is at the top of the list of cursed lottery winners.

Peace
