Woman Trapped Underneath Dresser for Four Days

A Cedar Mills, Oregon woman was trapped in her home for 4-5 days without food or water.

Neighbors noticed they hadn't seen her for days and became concerned. One neighbor said she knew something was wrong when she didn't pick up her Sunday paper.

Her neighbors contacted Washington County Sheriff's Deputies Friday to check on her. Deputies forced their way into her home and found Virginia Cartier, 67, pinned underneath a heavy dresser. She was moving furniture when the incident happened.

The lower part of her body was pinned under the dresser and it took several deputies to move the dresser. Both her legs were injured and Cartier was going in and out of consciousness.  She was taken to Saint Vincent Hospital by ambulance. She is recovering at a friend's home.

How she managed to move the dresser at all is surprising, especially since it was so heavy.

Cartier is a very lucky her neighbors were concerned enough to contact authorities; she might have died otherwise.

Glad she is okay, but note to Cartier:  Never attempt to move furniture when you are at home alone.

A true case of "I've fallen and I can't get up"!

Peace
