Weapons: Fire and Gasoline

Photo:  Sarasota County Jail
On Sunday, April 15, a Sarasota woman was awakened around 3:15 a.m. by her dog. She saw a woman climbing through a broken window into her house.

The intruder, Carol Renee Jordan, had a gallon-size can and was pouring gasoline around.

According to the resident, Jordan said she intended to set her house on fire. She told Jordan to leave her house. She called police and followed Jordan until she was detained by police.

The resident said she recognized Jordan because she had previously thrown rocks at her house to break her windows.

Jordan lives in the 1700 block of 23rd street in Sarasota. The house she attempted to set on fire is in the 21st block of Osprey Avenue. Another woman, who lives in the 1700 block of of 22nd street, accuses Jordan of throwing beer bottles and flower pots at her home to break windows.

Carol Renee Jordan, 52 years-old,  is charged with arson, burglary and throwing a missile into a dwelling.

Does she choose these people randomly or does she know them and hold a grudge against them.  Police should watch her in jail because she really wants to set something on fire...something!

An Austin, Texas man got into the bathtub to wait for his wife to come in and give him a massage. There was candlelight to set the mood.

When Shriya Biman Patel came through the door, it was not to give him a massage.  She poured gasoline over him, lit him on fire using a candle, then locked the bathroom door.

Neighbors called police to the apartment about 9:15 in the evening when they heard a man screaming for help from a balcony.

He managed to kick in the bathroom door and escape, but police said he was badly burned and in severe pain. The victim has burns on over 70% of his body. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Patel, 25 years-old, and her husband were married for a year, but she only came to the U.S. from India a week ago. She kept herself busy during that week. According to police, she removed the smoke detectors and disabled the sprinklers in the apartment. Police also found receipts for items used in the assault.

Reports don't say how police caught her, but she was taken to jail and charged with arson and assault with a deadly weapon. Bond is set at $l,000,000.

What did he do in a week to make her commit such a horrific act? Or, maybe it was what she found out he did while she was in India.

 Peace
