Man Attempts to Rob Three Banks in One Day

On Thursday afternoon, a Utica, New York man attempted to rob a bank but left without getting any cash.  So he decided to rob a second bank and still got no cash.  So he entered the third bank and stepped up his game -- cursing at employees and demanding they put money into a bag.

Police received a telephone call from employees at the Key Bank that there was an attempted robbery. Police also received calls from two other banks saying the same man had attempted to rob their banks.

Officers went to "the scene" in an unmarked car and saw a man walking away from the bank. The suspect saw the police and ran away, but police caught him and took him to jail.

It is frustrating to have three failed attempts at bank robbery in one day and still leave without any cash -- well, it's probably because his weapon was a toilet plunger.  This bank robbery business is just not working out for Lawrence Deptola, 49.

Deptola actually threatened employees at Key Bank with the plunger...wow, I bet they were scared.

Since the plunger was found inside First Citizens Bank, this is probably where cops arrested him.

I say in the beginning of this post, Deptola left the banks without any money. There was no mention of any money being taken and it just seems logical that bank employees would not take seriously, a bank robber with a plunger as a weapon.  But, you never know, they could be like the employee who gave a bank robber cash at the drive-up window.

 Peace
