A 16 year-old boy from Orem, Utah woke up on Saturday morning and thought it was a perfect day for robbing banks. He took his mom's car and drove to Central Bank, robbed it; drove to American First Credit Union and robbed it...all within 20 minutes and without entering either bank.
It was Saturday and the lobby was closed at both banks. He drove up at the drive-thru, put a note into the tube and sent it inside to the teller. At each bank, the teller gave him an undisclosed amount of cash. He implied he had a weapon, but no weapon was used in the robberies.
It's strange that he is a 16 year-old bank robber, of two banks, at the drive-up window, on Saturday morning. But what's even more strange is that the tellers actually gave him money. Why??
I know banks have standard operating procedures for bank robberies, but this guy was outside the bank (and not even at the drive-up nearest the bank). The lobby doors were locked and the tellers were inside the banks, behind bullet-proof glass.
It's unbelievable he got money from one bank at the drive-up window, but two banks? Why wouldn't the tellers just refuse him? What could he have done? Shot and kidnapped the drive-up window camera?
After being arrested and going to jail, this teen probably understands that what he did was very stupid, but is seems he wasn't the only one who acted stupidly that day.
Peace
