You're alone with your infant and someone is breaking into your home. You get your weapons...a shotgun and a pistol, barricade the door to the room and call 911. The call lasts for 21 minutes while someone tries to get in the doors of your home.
Sarah is a very brave young woman and so mature for her age. It's amazing how in control she seemed during the 911 call. Justin Shane Martin, 24, broke into her home; he had a knife in his hand when his body was found. She was protecting herself from imminent violence and the intruder got what he deserved.
Some in the media are stirring the pot by asking the question: Did the 911 operator tell Sarah to shoot Martin?
Sounds like the media is trying to find smoke where there is no fire. The operator told Sarah that she couldn't tell her what to do...but, to do what she needed to do to protect herself and her son...and that's what Sarah did.
Sarah would have done the same thing if she hadn't been on the phone with the 911 operator...anyone in their right mind would have shot him. No charges are filed against Sarah or the operator which is as it should be.
Too bad Sarah didn't get to shoot the second coward, Dustin Louis Stewart, 29, who ran away. He ran but he couldn't hide and he is charged with first-degree murder. That's right...when a death occurs during the commission of a crime, any and all perpetrators can be charged with murder. So he gets what he deserves, as well.
I know you are asking...why did it take police over 20 minutes to get to her home? She lives in a very rural area which is probably why she has (and knows how to use) a shotgun and a pistol.
According to reports, Martin and Stewart may have been looking for drugs. It took these nut jobs over 20 minutes to break in...they were probably already high.
Peace
